A classic from the southern Rhône with all the generous warmth and gravitas you’d expect from this legendary appellation. Rich, layered and full of southern charm, this Grenache-forward Châteauneuf-du-Pape (from 70% Grenache) captures the sun-drenched intensity of its stony terroir. Made from vines with an average age of 40 years and aged for a year in oak barrels, the nose opens with dark cherry, crushed blackberries and sweet herbs – thyme, lavender and a hint of warm spice. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and structured, with ripe red fruits, black pepper and hints of leather, flint and cinnamon. There’s a subtle earthiness the lingers with fine-grained tannins and a core of freshness keeps it balanced. Made with respect for tradition – low-intervention winemaking and careful ageing – this is a bottle to open slowly, share generously and savour fully. Very approachable now or cellar for up to 10 years.
