Annual Calendar Competition

The deadline for entries to our photographic competition has passed and we are now in the process of selecting the winners, who will all be notified by the middle of November. Thanks to everyone who entered! 

This year we're inviting entries for consideration on the theme of Our Rural Landscape, which could include subjects such as farming and food, wildlife and landscapes, rural crafts and local events in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire. 

The winning 12 entries will feature in our very special 2026 Calendar, which celebrates our 175th Anniversary since Harold Dike first started delivering groceries in Stalbridge with a horse and cart.

Submissions are welcome from all ages and you can send in as many pictures as you like for consideration, but they must be in colour, landscape shape and high resolution. 

Please email your photos to [email protected] with the subject heading ‘2026 CALENDAR’. Entries need to be in by midnight on Sunday 28th September please, with your full name, contact details (mobile no) and information about where and when your photograph was taken. 

All winning entries will receive a Dike & Son goodie bag and, of course, the honour of appearing in our very popular Calendar!

Terms & Conditions

The Dike & Son Calendar photographic competition is open to all ages and abilities, but the photograph entered must have been taken in Dorset or Somerset and be recent, a landscape shape and high resolution.  

Entries are invited by email only please. Send your photo in to us at [email protected] with the subject heading 2026 CALENDAR together with your name, phone number and when and where the picture was taken, along with some caption information. 

All photographs and caption information received will be deemed to have automatic permission for publication in the Calendar and for free use for any publicity in relation to the competition or the Calendar, including in-store and on social media. This includes the photographer's name unless it is stated clearly in the original email that they wish to remain anonymous.

For entrants under 18, please confirm you have permission to enter from your parent, guardian or teacher and state your age. We will also need the contact name and phone number of the adult giving permission so that we can get in touch with them to confirm this.

Information from entrants will be kept in accordance with our Data Protection Policy (see our Privacy Policy here) and no information will be given to third parties or used for any publicity without the entrant's permission. 

The competition closes at midnight on Sunday 28th September, followed by judging during October. The winning entrants will be notified in November and will receive copies of the Calendar and a Dike & Son goodie bag just before Christmas, when the Calendars come back from the printer.  Winners will need to be able to collect their bags from our shop (or send someone in on their behalf). 

The judges' decision is final. The management reserves the right to reject entries that do not fulfill the entry requirements and/or request more information by email or phone from entrants if needed, to help with the judging process.
